Harristown Haiku
Harristown Haiku Anthology
Harristown Elementary School
back < intro 6 > next

Take your time and enjoy the haiku in this anthology. Haiku are meant to be read slowly, allowing you enough time to imagine being there, filling in all the blank parts of the picture that forms in your mind. These haiku will take you back to childhood, to school, to a child's perspective of the world. If these haiku and paintings succeed, you will be moved to feel and associate with your own memories and feelings. Hopefully, these haiku will be like old friends to you.

I encourage you to read them in the order designed, which follows the Japanese tradition of arrangement of haiku books. We begin with the autumn, since the workshops were completed in October, but we travel throughout the year by memory and acts of the imagination. If you prefer to jump to a season, you may click on the links below to go to a particular season.
