Chris Potter

Intro Written by Skya Gentle:

This author has a splendid knack for the "turn" element haiku is known for. His often morbid sense of humor and commonly surprising third line work to make a unique set of poetry that startles the reader with sudden truth or irony. For instance, the poem

Ponded          Frog
                    is
                                   frozen

Takes the rather overused haiku image of a frog in a pond and turns it around show the harsher side of nature through the image of a frog frozen inside a pond in the middle of winter.

sitting in the van
realizing what life is
taking a different road

chilly twilight
on a roof
I hear your voice

fall leaves
I fall
to one knee

long shower
I think
where am I going?

midnight laughter
we see the moon
differently

joining together
around the table
warm cider

Hallow's Eve,
she takes off
her facade.
