Reflection

by
Anna Harmon

I chose these haiku because they all connect to feelings or realizations I have felt when I was by myself. While this does not make them all sad feelings, there is something to be said about those small realizations one may find themselves having when spending time alone.

Reader Introduction

Anna’s haiku bring me feelings that I can distinctly remember feelings in the quiet hours of the morning or when I may be doing something alone late at night. Her haiku have a special way of invoking these feelings and bringing me back to these specific times. ~ Sydney McReynolds

October nightfall
wet leaves
stick to our shoes

borrowed book
imagining you
reading these words

your spot
on the couch
sags a little

my old house
creaky brass handle
I still turn twice

moon pulled
lasso’d from
the backseat window

quiet morning
my hands resting
in the dishwater

cold fingers
seeking warmth
around the gravestone

rising to the surface
a koi fish
opens it’s mouth

a touch of spring
we leave our coats
in the car

after the party
we pick up napkins
one by one
