As We Reminisce

crunch of leaves
a bright sound
cuts through the chill

SR

home, sweet home in sight
I see a furry creature

RC

Family together
Faces glow brighter
than the crackling fire

EO

Familiar scents all around
warm me like a sweater

OB

the moon lights
the stone path
back home

SR

minutes pass as
my feet briskly pace

RC

shadows linger
the moon peeks through
bare branches

EO

I stare past the trees
where did she go?

OB

catching my breath
as the breeze flies by
chasing after the moon

OC

light beams broken
by passing geese

SR

cold winter wind
reminding me of
years past

RC

Hands warmed by gloves
she used to wear

EO

The moon shines
on white wool
as we reminisce

OB

catching a fray string
my sweater becomes unwound

OC

the mind is fragile
flower vase
shattered on the wood

SR

I close my eyes
petals losing color

RC

In my head
memories of you
Dissolve

EO

Still, the world spins
Blossoms of hope all around

OB

racing to my term
my ticket in hand
following the world's orbit

OC

rats queue up
waiting for the crumbs

SR

checking my phone
to pass the time
blank stares

RC

wandering through the courtyard
strangers talk to strangers

EO

Interesting new places
exciting new places
How will I say goodbye?

OB

my taxi pulls up
exchanging hellos in a universal language

OC

wipers flick
acid rain
holey umbrella

SR

hair dripping
optimistic attitude

RC

He wraps his fingers
to keep warm
hot chocolate

EO

A piping winter drink
warms me from the inside out

OB

cookie dives into my drink
and I take a bit
comparing my dessert to the waxing moon

OC

steam warms my nose
another night alone

SR

taking a seat on the couch
I grab a blanket
quiet cuddles

RC

Irritated barks
pull me out of my sleep

EO

Looking out the window
the sweetest face
can't stay mad

OB

laughter takes over
setting the perfect mood

OC

petals caught
on delicate whispers
spring fling

SR

one word hits my lips
“why?”
