While Students Daydream

by
Alex Pratt

Hello everyone. I wanted to first start by thanking you for reading some of my works. The first haiku in the collection “While Students Daydream” are all school related. With my signature haiku relating to school I thought that the best way to set up the beginning of my collection was to follow that similar theme. As you’ll be able to tell once you start to get into my haiku, I prefer to focus on adding a little bit of humor into what I write. I like having a light-hearted feel to my haiku, and I used that preference when writing throughout the semester. Thank you again for reading my collection and I hope you enjoy. ~Alex Pratt

a professor lecturing
on the importance of active listening
students daydream

all nighter
group project
being done solo

in the silence
of the clear night
keyboard clicks

headphones in
world out
Stevie Wonder

everything wrapped perfectly
just like Christmas
taco Tuesday

the one day
everyone brings out their inner monster
I’m not alone anymore

the children search
the yard for the eggs
someone forgot to hide
