Quiet Thoughts

by
Lucas Chatterton

I chose the title “Quiet Thoughts” because that is where a lot of my haiku come from. They are mostly just little things I think to myself or things that I have thought before but never really had the courage to say out loud. It’s basically what ends up on the cutting room floor of my mind. “Lucas’ thoughts: Director’s Cut” if you will. They are all from my personal experiences because that is what I enjoy writing about. So, please enjoy a brief glimpse of my “Quiet Thoughts”

kindergarten valentine
        not afraid of
         her cooties

on the porch
good coffee
better friends

three remotes
two batteries
the old switcheroo

finally home
nothing quite like
pizza with mom

quiet thoughts
nobody knows
what I'm thinking

old brick sidewalk
through the cracks
flowering weeds

soft supple leather
new baseball glove
still waiting for dad
