For You      My Love

by
Jessi Kreder

To me haiku is all about staying in the moment. Many of my haiku are about love and nature, all describing a certain moment. It is so easy to walk through life and think about the future. But when this is done, so many little memories are forgotten when they should be cherished.

I focused many of my haiku on small moments that I knew were special. I like stepping back to look at the bigger picture. My haiku are simple and allow the reader to connect them to their own memories. The title "For You My Love" is based on one of my favorite haiku I've written. It is lovely. It incorporates my personal life without taking away the experience from the reader.

in your eyes
Van Gogh stars
paint the sky

plan for the night:
expore the world
make memories
            that's all

cold grass chills
my skin
I inspect the stars

pressed between
the fresh pages
a worn photo of us

February snowflake
melts off
flushed cheek

lost purpose
the libary book
collects dust

winding road
the unknown attracts
me

Christmas lights
he tells me
my freckles are cute

hung on the Christmas tree
the twinkle
I see in his eyes

i wish
we could say goodbye
for longer

just like the sun
his smile
cannot be ignored

cranberry sunset
his cheek
flushed

I string the stars
on a copper chain
for you     my love
