Haiku

rose petals
           drift away
she lets go of his hand

the rabbit spppprrinttsss
towards the finish line
it never comes

off to dreamland
                thoughts driftly
                             tenderly through the rain

boxing ring
words fly back and forth
between two conflicted hearts

a little girl
tugs at her
mother’s dress
waiting for the
parade that never comes

flower baskets
her hands
crippled with arthritis

the kitten nibbles
at fingertips
a total stranger
