Romance

late night cruise
lights dim... moon
leading the way

eyes in the sky
no goodbye

music in background
subtle and sweet
a companions grief

wrapped around my neck
her scarf
her scent, faint

waves crashing
mist in the air,

tears, drifting away
with the moon,
still in the sky

Conner Cloney
Christian Zenon

Graduation

project x
alcohol poisoning
ginger ale

red and white lights
doorbell rings

stampeding exit
house in shambles
where do i hide

keys jingle
packing my bags

dispose of the keg
wait,
one last stand

door broken in
parents scream . . . party on

Tyvon Johnson
Margaret Comerford
Christian Zenon

The Joker

the darkest night
a knife is drawn—
she closes her book

a familiar voice
whispers her instructions

the crow staring from afar
the world is asleep
wind is still

she leads up the stairs
heartbeat racing
while body remain steady

through the upstairs window
her pupils consume the moon light

her final moments delayed
to her rescue
batman

Conner Cloney
Kailey Lyons

The Ride

late night cruise
lights dim . . . moon
leading the way

eyes in the sky
no goodbye

touch feeling faint
love but i hate
this feeling i can’t shake

standing alone
no one near
i might as well, disappear

wind blowing
through the slight crack

a summers night mist
flow
but -- to where?

Taron Jones
Tyvon Johnson

New Chapter

stepping off the field
one last time
embracing dad

flash backs
of the first wobbly at-bat

cleat once tied
by him . . .
i untie forever

graduation tassle
        hangs
in the rearview mirror

gravel beneath my tires
a replay through my head

stepping on the field
this time
a whistle around my neck

Alex Collins
Margaret Comerford
