piece of me

by
Christian Zenon

in my eyes a perfect haiku is something the artist can be proud of. this art helps you look into the creation on a personal level. this often brings the reader closer to them. the cartons of this book in body different emotions and situations i have gone through in my life. the perfect haiku will bring something out of you. this can mean emotions and memories or sometimes even new realizations. these haiku are a piece of me.

dashing date
i receive the bill
declined . . . awkward

crowded subway
eyes consumed by the other
fingers intertwined

leg day
hopefully the result is not
noodle legs

still hungry
a snack that smiles back
Goldfish

stomach cramping
missed breakfast
"on the line"

mother's sickness
i slowly reach
for her hand

senior year
alarm clock blaring . . .
snoozZz.

soccer tryouts
racing to my goal
prayers up

brotherly love--
blurred pink vision
stitches

cold sweat
where is my mother
i'm all alone

on a cozy couch
flooded with grief
i unpack my thoughts

prairie farm milk
can't find the expiration date
welp

cautious steps
in the dead of night . . .
but she knows

icy morning
car warming up
blurry vision

late night cruise lights
dim . . . moon leading
the way

rosemary bushes
along the brick path
calming

family dinner
stomach just might pop
one . . . more . . . bite
