Striving to Find the Beautry

by
Christina Wasserstrom

This haiku collection “Striving to Find the Beauty” is a collection of my favorite haiku that start off by only seeing darkness in the world, and as life goes on, the beauty of the world begins to appear. This is a self journey about not only finding love, but learning to love yourself and the world around you. One thing I love about haiku is finding the beauty in the poems and the stories behind them.

This collection represents the journey of self love. At first, the reader may only experience the sad dark moments we all go through, but as you read on, you realize you can find the beauty in this world if you let yourself. Once you believe there is beauty in the world, that is all you can see, especially when you are in love.

long blonde hair
looking in the mirror
all I see is dark

walking into the classroom
all eyes turn on me
a scarecrow

oak tree
the perfect place
just for me

I look up to the sky
filled with starry lights
fireflies

tallest shade of gray
as the moon peeks through
conversation deepens

as the beads fall off
dad still wears it
just for me

keep walking
you'll see it
a place only we know

I click my heels
staring into your eyes
I am home

every time I hear that car
my heart skips a beat
I know it's you

feet in the sand
the sound of waves
the healing sun

two stars
shining in the sky
you and me

jsut like that
as the wind came
you were gone
