Chasing My Sunshine

I am a senior musical theatre major at Millikin. "Chasing My Sunshine" is a collection of my favorite haiku. They share pockets of joy I find in life as well as moments of struggle I strive to overcome.

diamonds dance
across the water
the orange sun glows

muddy mind
wanders
and comes up clean

trying to run
              uphill
it's covered in ice

listen to the trees
they whisper
our inner thoughts

I turn on
the news
stomach floods with pain

hands plunk
the piano
this key       doesn't work

rumbling water
silk covered stones
spf in the air

Eeyore tags along with
friends
even with the dark clouds

Friday night
laughter outside my door
I turn off my lights

I smile
while the dagger hangs
out of my back

we laught
at the seagull
stealing a french fry
