Chasing My Sunshine
by
Holly Bender
I am a senior musical theatre major at Millikin. "Chasing My Sunshine" is a collection of my favorite haiku. They share pockets of joy I find in life as well as moments of struggle I strive to overcome. |
diamonds dance
across the water
the orange sun glows |
|
|
muddy mind
wanders
and comes up clean |
trying to run
uphill
it's covered in ice
|
|
|
listen to the trees
they whisper
our inner thoughts |
I turn on
the news
stomach floods with pain |
|
|
hands plunk
the piano
this key doesn't work |
rumbling water
silk covered stones
spf in the air |
|
|
Eeyore tags along with
friends
even with the dark clouds |
Friday night
laughter outside my door
I turn off my lights |
|
|
I smile
while the dagger hangs
out of my back |
we laught
at the seagull
stealing a french fry |
