Reader Response Essay:
Aubrie Cox's Haiku

Haiku Collection

by
Michelle Holsapple

The collection of Haiku I put together I believe to be the best of what I have written. I like the way that each of them represent who I am or have been. Each one of them is a reflection of some memory that I cherish.

sister’s dress
how pretty she looked
now it's mine

Kool-Aid mustache
chalky hopscotch
star wishes

paddy cake, hopscotch
double dutch, rhymes
bell rings, till next time

closet full of clothes
nothing to wear
sigh

five o’clock shadow
in the waiting room
. . .is that a cry?

another page turned
another chapter read
too new beginnings

mom’s hand
the last things shared
banana popsicle

grandma’s quilt
from her mother
to mine

echo of laughter
the walls
he built

branch by branch
a canvas
of trees
