Sun Shines

by
Britney Allen

The title Sun Shines explains a lot about my haiku. I enjoy writing a lot of modern haiku about nature and seasons. This title of my haiku selection shows a lot about the kind of haikus I have included in my collection. I like writing haiku about nature and seasons because they are often times very quiet and calming to me. They bring a sense of peace to me. The haiku I chose go through many different seasons and events. I used a modern approach to writing these haikus and letting them be short and simple. I want the haiku to lead a person into a thought so they can finish the scenario themselves. All of these haiku are from memories of my past or things that have happened in the present and mean a lot to me.

hot summer sun
beats down
as he hits third base

crisp autumn day
picking apples
from the trees

warm cookies
the smell of cinnamon
throughout the house

the fire burns
as we talks
all night

snow falls
not a single footprint
is seen

Christmas tree
the only light
in the house

sun shines
kids laugh
on the monkey bars

stars fill the sky
we lay
side by side
