Late Night Haiku
by
Sara Runyen
I am a mother of two and we live a very busy lifestyle.
These collections were written in the dark and on the couch after bedtime.
I found it to be the time of day when I could get the
most work done with a clear head.

from green to blue
filled to the top
cannonball
|
|
|
tears of pain
joyful grins
baby snuggles again and again
|
green grass
white bases
chasing hits or butterflies |
|
|
“Mom, watch this”
I hear it 101 times a day
not complaining |
from green to blue
filled to the top
cannonball |
|
|
packing the tote
checking the list
what did i forget? |
bugs and dinosaurs
barbies and dolls
both fill my heart |
|
|
our fingers interlocked
heartbeats in sync
silence fills the room
you’re asleep |
the first appointment
i heard your heartbeat
right then i knew . . . |
