The Princess Collection

by
Heather Senger

I have entitled my first collection of haiku The Princess Collection for several reasons. The first reason is most of my haiku are written with my daughter in mind, she is a little princess. I also am very girly and princess like, so the title fits my personality. These haiku are mostly about family and children. This is what I enjoy writing about most.

These haiku should appeal to your senses and let you fill in the story. Haiku is all about starting in the middle and leaving an open ending to let the reader imagine their own scenario. Most of the haiku are set in a season or place to give the reader a good sense of the atmosphere. I have enjoyed writing these haiku and I hope they will be read again and again and shared with others. I plan to continue to write more haiku after The Princess Collection.

an exciting night out
wearing a pearl bracelet
from her father

snow cone man
children running
from every direction

midnight thunder
she call for daddy
through the bedroom door

snow day
children everywhere
angels

hot summer day
best friends
giggle through the sprinkler

atop of the high dive
a five year old cries
not so brave after all

hot summer day
children holding hands
jump in the pool

November rain
gazing through the droplets
she thinks about the past

The Office

sunny spring day
stuck in the office
she gazes out the window

papers piles high
no work done today

cherry blossoms everywhere
fragrance on the air
everlasting sunlight

children run
children play

a humid summer day
the children laugh and giggle
through the streets

a sudden thunderstorm
no more laughs and giggles
