Selected Haiku
by
Bridget Beals
I've always thought of my self as a well-rounded individual, until I attended Global Haiku Traditions. I didn't grasp what haiku is or how to do it. I kept asking my friends and family, "Do you know what haiku is?" How can you make a haiku if you can't define it? Honestly, I still don't know, but that doesn't stop the words from pouring out of me. It's odd because I find myself writing things down all the time now, rearranging words, trying to make sense of the phrases I've put together. I look at what I've written, and I wonder, "Am I the only one who gets what I write?" It's a tad bit sarcastic, but all in all, I think it's funny. My friends who read my work are biased and no help because they know me. They also think it's funny because I haven't built up a wall surrounding thoughts only my friends and family are privvy to, but everyone can enjoy. |
