Traveling Feathers
by
Christina, Dea, Joy, Sandy

overhead…
a stream of feathers
migrating South

~Christina

the hour grows late…
procrastinators come
joining the flock

~Dea

underfoot—
green grass
browning

~Joy

leaves change
squirrels gather—
he puts on the flannel sheets

~Sandy

a warm lover’s kiss
in the brisk
evening moonlight

~Christina

bare branches
silent skies—
winter sets in

~Dea

in the cold air
the blue sweater
reflects in her eyes

~Joy

a decade of love
—frozen
in time

~Sandy

the snow deepens
blankets of white
… lost

~Christina

under heavy ice…
branches fail
crashing down

~Dea

each furry creature
…cowering
through the night

~Joy

crackling fire—
rejuvenates
hope

~Christina

“bout there”…
she smiles from the door
in the moonlight

~Sandy

a frozen stream
awaits…
the return of life

~Dea

beneath the ice
a fish hides—
from winter cold

~Joy

in the treetop
a bird
sings

~Sandy

amaryllis blossoms…
glimmer
in her eyes

~Christina

dragon’s breath…
reveals
his warmth

~Dea

sun rising—
life everywhere
burrows in deeper

~Joy

the grass sleeps
under a blanket
of snow

~Sandy

the silent phone
drowns—
…in her tears

~Christina

cold empty house
he sits alone…
with his dog

~Dea

sparkling drift
conceals—
new life

~Joy

deep winter…
the old owl sits
waiting on the snow

~Sandy

reckless wind
rips through—
her heart

~Christina

soaring
free…
she turns home

~Dea

warm footprints…
leading to
his door

~Joy

a drop
dangles…
from the icicle

~Sandy

New Year moon—
lovers
on flannel sheets

~Christina

Phil…
with
his shadow

~Dea

she strokes
the soft
frost

~Joy

grass glistening
early morning—
all is still

~Sandy

shoots
wait—
to spring

~Christina

pond’s edge…
a loan frog
croaks

~Joy

the weathered couple
dreams –
of cherry blossoms

~Dea

a flock of feathers
returning—
to abandoned homes

~Christina
