Haiku is the expression of emotion in the most descriptive, simplest terms. It is a challenge to the reader to engage all senses in imagery created by the haiku. This form of writing is individualized and belongs to the writer, but is shared by the reader with his or her own interpretation and memories that the haiku brings forth. Its spontaneity can capture a time, place, scents, tastes, and a full range of emotions. The simplistic style of haiku is the purest form of poetry.
