Selected Haiku

by
Sarah Bogle

Sarah Bogle is a current student at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She was born in 1976 and has resided in Central Illinois her entire life.

Sarah has a twelve year old daughter and was married to Craig on July 7th, 2007. She currently works as a Special Education Teacher Assistant for the Decatur Public School District.

Sarah has always enjoyed writing poems in her private journal and became interested in Haiku while taking a Global Haiku class with Randy Brooks.

Why “Lazy Daze”? I chose this title, because during those moments are when I reflect the most. An object will catch my eye and it will cause the stimulation of memories.

FIGURING IT OUT

2 become 1
easier said than done
when there is 3

never a dull moment
in tight spaces

from work to school
her day is long
and he is left with 3

3 and he
take up the slack
while she is away

he and 3 are learning how …
to communicate

when all is said and done
love helps us
keep moving on.

by Craig and Sarah Bogle

negative wind chill
grandma’s quilt
pulled up to my nose

snow covered hills
round and red
a saucer of fun

blue and speckled
the mother
nestles her eggs

twinkling in the night
houses covered
in colored lights

faces behind glass
fairytale treasures
passed down to granddaughter
