Selected Haiku

by
Justin Pratt

Taking this class has been my first encounter with haiku writing. At first the schedule and setup of the class and material was a little difficult for me to get used to since ninety eight percent of the other classes that I have taken in college have been business related courses. Writing down events that have happened to me in the past and then sharing them in class was a new concept to me. Dr. Brooks made the class very interesting and made me more comfortable sharing my haiku with the class. In the end, I found the class to be interesting and feel that haiku is another way to express to myself and others about a situation that I have gone through in my life.

“I do”

winter night
snow is falling
hot chocolate time

Pop fly

June Meteor Rain

crashing waves

knee high in water
recovered the goods
dinner time

sandwiches soggy
pickles salty

chocolate cake

another world

flash in the sky
meteor rain
perfect ending
