Selected Haiku

by
Melissa Davidson

Most of the haiku I have written come from personal experiences. Being a teenage mother, losing my grandfather, and learning how to be the woman God created me to be is the inspiration behind my haiku. It has been a great way to record memories as well as express my feelings in words. I hope you, the reader, enjoy getting to know me through these few written expressions.

unpacking
the suitcases
sand on the floor

reading in the sun
time flew by
aloe vera

Grandmother’s basket
made by hand
missing handle

in the front seat
should she say no
just fifteen

delivery room
the pain ceases
eighteen years later

sun shining in
he leans over
good morning
