Book of Reflections

by
Beth A. Miller

This collection of haiku was written from memories of life experiences that have been tucked away and brought back to life through my reflection of the past. Not only has writing brought back once lost memories but they have re-affirmed why I am who I have become. I hope you enjoy reading my walk down memory lane and that you are inspired to take a look back reflecting on the people and life experiences that has created the unique you.

I hold her hand and
wipe her tears—
I feel I've touched an Angel

unbearable summer evening heat
clothes on the ground
skinny dippers

mother-son
the smell of burnt rubber
on race day

side by side
slicing a bucket of peaches
we talk about anything

my knees are weak
my back aches
one more race

I have not
picked my nose—
Today.

bear claw bath tub
black beneath the enamel
caresses the arch of my back

her favorite blue jeans
hug the curves of
her hour glass figure

the days are long
the nights are lonely
so . . . I pray
