The Betrayal
Autumn sunset sitting on the dock watching intently she breaks the silence looking down discussing the future • falling leaves animals scurry he steals a kiss they collect wood separated in the dark the coldness • the path heart racing sitting down by the bush closing her eyes a hand on her arm instant fear • lifting her up arm in arm deep in the woods the smell of firewood stoking the flames her fear • tears in her eyes all she has known in the clearing pondering moon shining down disgust on her face • he quietly speaks crumbled dreams healing words fog has lifted walking hand and hand she wakes suddenly • • •
