haiku

by
Sevie Jarrett

My understanding of haiku has been aroused. I knew nothing about haiku before this class. I'm not an expert by any means of writing haiku. I still need a lot of practice. Haiku is written by understandings or memories of certain things. You take certain things from certain situations that stand out and my best haiku comes from memories.

Summer
children sleeping late
school starts next week

falling leaves
the season I love
relaxing by the window

hairdresser
hot pressing iron
patient women waiting

rainy morning
garden grown tomatoes
sitting on the porch

morning
looking out the window
the street is still

Christmas snow
the smell of baked cookies
as we watch the stars
