Who knew that so much expression and emotion could be expressed with so few words? This haiku collection is my doorway to life’s ups, downs, random acts, surprises and unexpected moments. The purpose of this collection is to provide you with an in depth look at life through poetry.

My haiku choices were strictly based on my life. Although this will speak to many people, as a single mother of six girls, many of the haiku you will find are written from the feminine prospective. However, no one is left out. You will connect with the life situations I speak of in this collection, and see many of the same moments in life that you experience daily. I am very pleased with my work, and I am equally happy to share it with so many.

As you read, don’t neglect the thoughts your mind calls you away to review. If you are not drawn to thoughts of your own life, allow your imagination to walk you through these moments in my life, and the lives of those I love. It is my desire that you use all of your senses to enjoy a complete look at what is before you.

I am very grateful for my children. My girls are the inspiration that bring my words to life. If you want to know the inside of me, look inside my words.

a window cracked open
to soothe the heart

squeaky floorboard
the youngest comes in the dark
with questions

a butterfly
lands on her finger
they stand still

purple flower
the one they didn’t plant
grows everywhere

from one conversation
to the next

headpones
listening to music . . . or
blocking us out

Santa is coming
and daddy ate the cookies
I left for him

bills, bills, bills . . .
