Selected Haiku

by
Missy Goad

This collection has come from memories of my past or things that I experience in the present. It is hard to break down the complexity of the world around you into so few words. I have found that being more simplistic allows the imagination to take center stage and the story then progresses.

sunset
shoulders kissed by the sun
footprints follow us

snow day
a fort blanket
in the living room

first snow
children’s faces
glued to the classroom window

long weekend
no map
endless opportunities

Raaaaake. . .plink
Raaaaaake . . .tink
teasing me as I work

Grandpa’s shop
sawdust fills the air
my first birdhouse

one more gift . . .
and another . . .
maybe one more . . .

little hands
rolling the dough
the smell of gingerbread
