Precious Memories

My haiku and rengay are a direct reflection of my personal journeys throughout life. When writing I envision the things that I am most passionate about. I attempt to create a picture as I see it, then allow the reader to develop ideas which hopeful trigger a memory making the haiku more relatable. I chose the title Precious Memories because many of the haiku and rengay that I have placed within this collection reveal the moments that I have had with the people that I cherish the most. 

her hands trembling
the last stitch complete
. . . Grandma's quilt

faded fabric
sunken cushions
dad's favorite chair

lopsided vase
on the bottom it
reads "Happy Mothers Day"

lathering soap
daughter's tight curls
in the running water

football grunts
women's chatter . . .
saying grace

in her mother's gown
she proudly says
. . . I Do

winter storm
she holds me tight
I am safe
