Simply Random

by
Amanda Prahl

I titled this book Simply Random because my haiku are random fleeting thoughts. Not one really goes along with the other. Therefore it is just a smorgasbord of random writings. I have thoroughly enjoyed being creative in my thoughts and putting them together to make haiku that will get the wheels turning on memories, or just give you mental images that linger in your mind. I truly hope you enjoy!

I open the lid
no music plays—
grandma's jewelry box

awkward silence
small talk
we used to be best friends

spring wedding
something new
a liquid diet

summer breeze in the outfield
caught my first fly ball
with daddy's glove

early morning
dancing in the snow
the dog had to potty first

the steets deserted
like a ghost town—
too cold to be outside

a perfect shaped pine
for a Christmas tree—
would the neighbors notice?

finals?
Finals!
Finally over!
