Moon Shadow
by
Crissy Lennon
Dedicated to my mother, Debbie.
|
sunshine on soft dirt
roses on her bed
rain clears tears |
|
|
my old mailbox
I open
nothing again |
another day passes
closer to Christmas
the kids count |
|
|
wings expand
into the darkness
moonshadow |
firewood burning
inside a barrel
old men smile |
|
|
looking hard
at the veteran's wall
rose petals |
old tin roof
drops of rain
scent of dirt |
|
|
smoke everywhere
from the tailpipe
daddy's beat up truck |
rusty broken bridge
I drive across
praying |
|
|
over the horizon
I see myself
just one step closer |
