Enjoy the Ride

by
Jaime Taylor

This book is a collection of my personal haiku I am choosing to share to you. Up until attending Millikin, I had no idea what Haiku even was, but after taking Mr. Brooks class on Global Haiku, I have a much better idea of this unique form of poetry. As a mother of three, I have read stories and book and poems, but I had never come across haiku. After learning what haiku was and how it is interpreted and its intended use, I have a much better understanding a now a respect for the art. I hope you enjoy the haiku you are about to read and perhaps they will trigger some of your own haiku within you.

starry night
walk in the woods
holding hands

tears roll down her face
loss of a loved one
has no words

a birds song
bacon
sizzling in the skillet

too excited to sleep
cookies and milk
left on the table

bonfire
trailer with hay
pulled by a tractor

as we sit by the fire
the puzzle pieces
start to fit together as one
