I love this haiku! How many of us have been in this situation. Either on our way to work or school, possibly already late then we have to spend more time scraping our car from ice and snow! While reading this several times I can picture myself frantic, scraping my car as fast as I can so I am not late for work. The first line of this sets the scene also for whats to come. Picturing someone all bundled up, you can assume that it is winter time and very cold. I like this haiku a lot! Sarah |

This haiku describes the beginning of a romantic night between two consenting adults. I envision a recent snowstorm and possibly the roads are closed and the couple is unable to leave their house. Physical attraction takes over. Craig This also warms me up inside. I think of my husband and me enjoying a cup of wine by the fireplace. Not much is being said but we are both think of our lives together. I feel we would snuggle up to each other and all of a sudden we realize that we were thinking the same thing. We are both happy with our lives together. Dara I love the imagery in this haiku. I think everyone can relate to spending time with their significant other and having special moments. This reminds me of times with my husband. The times when we are on vacation or just sitting at home. The times that we get to be alone with no interruptions from life. I picture a roaring fire and some hot cocoa. A nice fluffy blanket shared by two. Diana It is easy for me to imagine this as it has happened many times. My husband and I get snowed in every winter because we live out the country and the snow plows do not frequent our streets during heavy snow. I imagine us curled up together watching a movie and he gently kisses my neck. My whole body warms up and things go from there. I will leave the rest to your imagination. Kathy I like this haiku once again because it is romantic and it's very relatable. I mean who doesn’t like to snuggle up with a lover on a cold night. It makes me think of me and my fiance when it's cold eating pizza and watching a movie, snuggled up to keep warm. Marshaya The haiku reminds me of a couple snuggled together on a blanket in front of a fireplace. Laying there enjoying small talk and a glass of sweet red wine, the man moves in to kiss his love. The young woman blushes with happiness. The couple so in love could be anywhere else in the world but they chose each other. Victoria |
With this haiku I feel a sense of love, warmth and desire. I can picture my boyfriend and I cuddled on the couch late after the kids are in bed watching a movie in front of a warm fire place. Nystasia |
I can see my mother unboxing christmas decorations and ornaments to put on the tree that were my grandmothers or her grandmothers. Old newspapers that were used by her mother to protect the precious decorations are still wrapped around them. As they are being carefully unwrapped a memory strikes in her mind with each one. Some memories are shared with me, others are kept between her and her mother. Catrina After the christmas tree has been set up, sitting on the couch, listening to music, and drinking hot chocolate… You look at the tree. Filled with family ornaments that maybe you made as a child or made by other family members. Mom passed a while ago and every year, it is a reminder of her. Happiness and sadness. Kristi

This reminds me of how excited I would be on Christmas Eve. Those nights as a child were the hardest to sleep. I would stay up and look out the window searching for Santa and his reindeer. In this haiku I imagine children trying to catch a peek at Santa only to fall asleep before getting that chance. This haiku makes me giggle thinking of how wonderful those nights were before learning that Santa was not real. Joe |

When I read this poem I imagine sitting on my couch covered in a blanket on a cold winter day. I imagine looking out a window that is covered in frost and seeing snow gently falling. I hear the faint sound of happy carols. I feel happy, peaceful, joyful and cozy when I read this poem. Katjia Christmas is by far my favorite time of year. Kind of ironic to say that because I‘m not the biggest fan of winter. I guess snow is ok if I don’t have to get out in it unless I want to. My stepdad was a volunteer firefighter for years and became close with all of the other firefighters and their families. Every year around Christmas they would all get together and go Christmas carol at houses nearby. This haiku reminded me of that and how I wish we still did things like that. Alisha Every year a co-worker has a caroling party. We arrive at her house early enough to have “tuner” aka adult beverages and some appetizers before we hit the neighborhood with our best voices. We go from house to house singing the songs that we can remember drinking and laughing along the way. Jennifer |

When I read this poem I imagine sitting on the couch in front of a warm fire on Christmas eve. I can see a Christmas tree to the right with a train circling its’ tracks underneath it. I can hear the clicking of the plastic tires against the plastic tracks. I feel excited when I read this poem. I also feel calm and happy. Katjia |
This haiku took me back to my childhood. It was in my personal top two favorites in this matching contest. Every year, we had a train that we would set up around the base of the Christmas tree. It would actually circle around the tree, the whistle would blow and smoke would come out the top. The train smoke even had a certain smell to it that I will never forget. Good memories. Heather This haiku was so refreshing to me. I love when people are able to take us back to a happy time in our childhoods. Every little kid was excited about Santa and we all attempted to wait until he arrived or even track where he was in the world on an online site. This is just exciting to me. It brings back all those childhood memories of waiting for Santa and then even the next day thinking to yourself “Santa came” and running to wake up your parents. Kasara |

This is a winter time hockey game. Some friends have gotten together in the middle of the night while the lake is good a frozen to play hockey on the frozen surface. Unable to see, they all turn their vehicle headlights on to make the game possible. Jacob |
