Lover of Life

by
Alisha Lafferty

Preface

To me Haiku is a form of expressing a story that can have multiple meanings. They are loaded with sensory words. Words that set a scene and take you to a place. Words that convey a feeling without totally giving it away on paper. Some haiku's can be one line poem's whereas other's such as Rengay can be a serious of two to three line's that make up a more lengthy poem. Regardless the length, Haiku is all about storytelling.

About the Author

The title of this collection is Lover of Life for one simple reason: I simply love life. It's one thing to go through the emotions of life. It is something completely different to actually enjoy life and all of its simple treasures and pleasures. Life lessons are learned by experiencing things in life. By taking chances. By getting hurt. Appreciating the small things and seeing the beauty in simple moments.

miles of road
on a blistering cold
winter night

what was once familiar
seems unseen

a sound at the door
boots line the wooden floor
dripping

paper and bows
glisten below twinkling lights as
laughter fills the air

stomach filled with knots
thinking how long its been

tearful hugs
of Joy—
