Through My Eyes

Rachel Costello

While reading these haiku, I want the readers to keep in mind that I am the type of individual who writes from experiences and not fantasy. As an only child, I have found great comfort and safety in my family and friends, therefore, they are my muse. Find your own memories through these haiku and cherish them as I do.

sparklers glow
my name in lights
independence day!

warmth and comfort
  shining
    down
      onto
        me
the child's prayer

after the rain
an end in sight
my rainbow

A Day in the Life of Lonely

cool with damp
the old man
replenishes the fruit

his tattered, thin cloak
offers no protection

the woman saunters
looking for reaction
her dating haven

an empty street
looms before her

gloomy night
big city dreams
fall by the wayside

a bright star
peeks from behind the clouds
