Essay on McClintock

Selected Haiku
by

Rhonda Russell

The enjoyment of reading and writing haiku has become a huge part of my entertainment now. I have opened my mind to be more imaginative in the last five weeks. I am very glad I had the opportunity to participate in this class. I am sure I will continue to read and write haiku with pure enjoyment.

fresh cut fairways
soybeans cooking
favorite golf course

lawnchairs everywhere
sprays of color
oohs and ahhs echo

hot sun
smell of chlorine
a cold beer

long white dress
maids in a row
forever a kiss

Our Walk Together

late night
full moon
leaving haiku

ouch
scratch
—we're the prey now

Sunday

warm sunday mornings
smell of coffee
and newspaper

hardness of the pews
pastor's long sermon

smell of fried chicken
friends gather
in play clothes

sitting on the porch swing
listening closely to grandpa

hand in hand
watching together—
the day pass

love still deep
passion still strong
