Haiku Kukai 7—Embarassing Moments

Global Haiku Tradition--Kukai 7, Spring 2003

feeling off balance
i look down—
two different shoes

Michele LaBrose (1st)

mosquito bite
on my ass—
second day of nude modeling

Jessica May (2nd)

a fart slips
I pretend I'm
sleeping

Lauren Taylor (3rd)

the first meeting of the semester
my fly
unzipped

lying in bed
was that your gas . . .
or mine?

first date.
On her white skirt...
a bright red stain

trickily trail
of unclear liquid
from her desk

greeted by     strange stares
new student     tomato red face
     wrong classroom

frozen screen
aggravated     I turned off
my neighbor's computer

school picture day
new white shorts
reveal my coming of age

first high school party
can't escape the stench
of vomit in my hair

or

first high school party
i rinse dinner
off my tank-top

afternoon on the beach
my bikini top
lost amongst the waves

passed out
they uncap
the permanent marker

at the bar
a sock falls from
my sweatshirt

yellow puddle
on the linoleum floor:
too late

sidewalk like butter
I slip and fall
laughter from everyone

first date . . .
at the restaurant
she has to pay

ramp's end
I trip into
my locker

two girls jogging
we laugh at them
--oops, one is my girlfriend
