I
Tunnel Through . . .
haiku
by
Juliana Helt
I
would like to start by saying that I do not consider myself
to be a skilled haiku poet. I don't feel like the haiku I
have written in the course of this semester are up to par
with many of the other students in the class. I had a good
time learning about and reading haiku this semester. I organized
the haiku in this chapbook into, what I thought, represented
a story, a story of who I am through haiku.

snowplowed
mountain
I tunnel through
to my brother
|
|
|
ashes
on forehead
businessmen scurry
to the next task
|
innocent
laughter
this year
a three year old
has my heart
|
|
|
heartbroken
. . . she sobs
I watch
glad to be single
|
drizzling
rain
gales of laughter
beneath the umbrella
|
|
|
heartbreaker
broke mine
angelic in his sleep
