NOW IS THE TIME
Haiku

This collection of haiku has so much meaning for me. Each one of these haiku comes directly from my being and is a real extension of myself. I am so glad that I have been able to have so many moments of inspiration, whether it be in the form of an emotion that I want to convey in words or an image that is so intense and close to my heart. Somehow, I was able to include a wide variety of topics in my haiku and get to a lot of different parts of my life. I touch on my own relationship with my girlfriend, which is the topic of my haiku song entitled "us" as well as my relationship with the rest of the people of the world, and the world itself.

As far as that goes, the real world and dealing with people and things has been a challenge for me. Not in the sense that I am not able to handle the world, but in the sense that it is a real challenge for me to stay on the simple side of things. Using a camera and looking through a viewfinder helps seeing the world as it should, but that's not exactly easy to always hold a camera to my face at all times of the day. This is why I've titled my collection "Now is the Time." I am trying to learn that right now, in this moment, is what I need to focus my energy on.

through this viewfinder
the angles and tones
all too perfect

thick drops
the best kind
for playing in

muggy downtown walk
headphones on
peace seems possible

fussy baby
now fast asleep
bottle and mood cools

dreadfully cold
skipping steps
warm church

October frost
my secrets
leave a handprint

autumn suicide
the widow wonders
who to go to

winning home run
a crowd of one
cheers

the hall again
what did I do?
everyone giggles

no sweaters
no scarves
you keep me warm

three words
even Neruda
can't explain
