flames lick away cold evening the old man's breath Brahm's Lullaby waxing moon early morning rave tulip buds jumping through puddles gazing out the screen charred stump mental hospital the grown man smiles crescent moon supernova two men out lying on linoleum wilted cherry blossom a sudden gust of wind alone in the house doorbell rings shuffling footsteps mason jars cherry tree missing pie swinging from the hayloft burning leaves each step is it too cold chapped lips a wisp of clouds icy stone who will I catch alone on the couch the last first drink she wonders whether flames flicker ••• |
