Smoke Screen early spring evening— waving the smoke choking on sarcasm in the meadow—the deer full moon turning away • the fire from across the smoke tearing into flesh Jerry dies after eating bathing with the television adventurous pet • china cracks cat hunting in groups plastic place mat-- the last straw the daughter wails sprawled across the bed • the sound of denim candles lit siren! running back into the
