Haiku Kukai 1 - Haiku on Transitions

Global Haiku • Millikin University • Spring 2008

morning sunshine
bare feet
underneath the covers

the rocky mountain reaches upwards
impossible to ascend
I reach for a rope

scratched trumpet
fingers fumble the pads
remembering notes

you walk away
tears falling down
only looking forward

fire stomped out
under the ashes
embers still burn

hand in hand
pacing back to her door—
night is complete

sun down
books on the desk
awake tonight

books surrounding me
with a deep sigh
I begin to write

standing together
full moon shining
on a black lake

the last bell rings...
the students' smiles widen
into summer vacation

glowing screen—
letters in the light
my written thoughts

pale moon
behind the trees
count to ten

twilight in the meadow
guitar strumming
giving my heart

alone in the darkness—
suddenly aglow
the prisms shadow
