RaNdomNess

mid June
at high noon
the brewery’s scent

thick humidity elicits
beads of sweat

tumbleweed rolls
fierce rivals
staring

wind shapes
wispy clouds

rainforest canopy
tucans in the trees
swaying

the damp ceiling
and mold spreading

the stripper’s apartment
alone
she waters her flowers

bills piling up
the phone dies

anticipation
a teenage mother
watches out the window

rain and peeking sun
a rainbow is born

vomit
the color matches
the marigolds

scotch sloshing
in his stomach

standing naked
the moon
over the rice field

midnight rendezvous
lovers’ conquest

the billy goat
hides
from the hungry troll

meadow on fire
dance ritual commences

cascading water
calms the rage
one blossom remains

motionless, Bambi stares
into his dead mother’s eyes

orphaned deer
the hunter
puts away his rifle

white lilies
unfolding

innocence lost
the hymen
breaks

feeble confession
the altar boy speaks

epiphany
trysts of yesterday
haunt the priest

barren branches
fork through the sky

dirty underwear
floats away
up-turned canoe

bubbles from below
still drinking

fish floating
toddler asks
about heaven

down the toilet
a soul raises up

full moon
teenagers play
ghost in the graveyard

dull light
on the gravestones

epitaph reveals
a family’s past
hero

kittens crying
mother returns for breakfast

cleaning up
spilled milk
she sings to herself

mailman stops by
the window

cherry blossoms
create a cloud
falling red

future lies before me
like an open mouth
