Many Grassy Paths

by
Nicholas Chivers

I was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 27th, 1989. At the age of two my family moved to Galesburg, Illinois, and my parents divorced. For the majority of my early childhood I was raised by my mother and my brother who is 2 years older than me. At the age of 7 my mom remarried. When I was 9 she gave birth to my half-brother, Gabriel, and when I was 11 she gave birth to my half-sister, Chloe. Throughout my life I have had ups and downs, but throughout it all my closest family and friends have been there for me. I believe love can conquer anything and only by being truthful, not only to others but to yourself as well, will you ever find true happiness. It is to these ideals, as well as my friends and family, that I dedicate this collection.

A special thank you to my Mom, Justin, Jenny, and Katie for always being there for me!

many grassy paths . . .
I must pick one
that feels right

winter's chill . . .
chased away by
your touch

nowhere to be
together we stay
on a snowy day

ice clad walkway
I slip
into your catch

no magic hat
yet eyes
full of life

best friends
at war--
pillow fight

the scent of rain . . .
I clear my head
in seclusion

there a twinkle
in the dark . . .
a firefly in my hand
