Central Park Bridge

seats near home plate
enjoying my hot dog
more than the game

Bleacher seats
Beer passed down
From hand to hand

Chicago summer
Fans gaze down
The base line

Summer heat
Fans look on
As cubs falter

glaring sun—
in the stands
a ball hits me

the crowd erupts . . .
juicy hot dog
falls to the ground

hot dogs, peanuts, and beer
join a fan for
America’s favorite pastime

Sticky feet pick up peanuts
As fans shuffle out
Maybee next year

Summer time
Americas pastime
Becomes Chicago’s interest

stuck in the cheap seats
the umpire
is smaller than my thumb

boy with camera
catches the game—
you don’t!

cameraman
at the field—
photo of a photo

home game
tied up in the 9th
going..going..gone!

form fitting pants
fantasy lover
rounds the bases

bottom of the 9th
and the home team
hangs their heads

one foam finger
and three hot dogs—
his first ball game

so expensive
the all American
peanuts and cracker jacks

homerun
everyone stands
to catch the action

crack—
and the crowd
cheers
