bump

          Bump of Life

Morning glories
Sprinkled
With dew

A quick glance
At her watch

Lights dim
Our hearts
Embracing

Pink elephant
In the room

Wishing
On the rising moon
For an accident

Pulling the car
To a hault

Hidden
In cornfields
Muffled moans

Flashing lights
Cop car

Pulling in the drive
Mom peeks
Out the window

That familiar ringtone
Interrupts us

Curses under my breath
Popping off
Dandelion heads

Finding my condom
Grounded

Moon belly
He feels
It kick

She pops the question
Child support?

Terrified
He squeezes her hand
Before leaving

Crying as she says
I’m her one and only

She weeps
Cherry blossoms fall
At her feet

The sonogram
Brings him back

Thrift shopping
Pink
Or blue

Stuffing clothes
In her purse

This time
Getting caught
Security camera

Another victim of
Winona’s folly

Behind bars
Telephones ring
Driving her Gaga

Pop culture
Makes me anorexic

Frozen water
And air
Delicious dinner

Staring at blank walls
Grasping my hospital band

Pulling away
From the syringe
A tear

Hospital walls as thin as
My gown

Moon beams
Reflect off
My scars

Washing away
Memories

The babbling brook
Softly whispers
My name

Tossing stones
Into my reflection

Morning breeze
Not liking
Who I am

His embrace says
He does

Introduction
He picks me
A cherry blossom

Our hands touch
A new start
