Summer Rain

rain
perfect ringlets
hang straight

hz

small rainboots splash
from puddle to puddle

km

as a child
running through the rain
no tears

ec

shower shampoo, in my eyes
tears

cd

blurring eyes
look out the window
harvest moon

ka

the tail lights
going down the lane

jr

gravel flying
after the argument
the echoes remain

sek

a kiss
to wipe away the hurt

eed

bandaid
on the doll's knee
too

rmb

a scar
on the old man's heart

al

brushing calloused hands
over a picture frame
. . . a faint smile

to

a face
he will never see again

rm

her empty chair
he talks to the moon,
hoping

cb

a passing stranger . . .
you, reincarnate

jc

senior homecoming
I let nothing
remind me of you

ab

he tries to break
the wall around my heart

hz

maybe this one
is different…
spring-time blossoms

km

seasons change
along with me

ec

more motivated
to get into shape
than to do my homework . . .

km

maybe
last year's bikini . . .

hz

proud moment
one cupcake
instead of two

ab

forbidden love . . .
chocolate-covered bacon

jc

swimsuit season
just around the corner
but so is ice cream

cb

my swimsuit
proudly displaying my scars

rm

“big foot”
towering over the rest
at model height

to

she wishes
she was that skinny

al

the alley cat
knocks over
a smelly trash can

rmb

success!
time to feast . . .

eed

high fives all around
after
the cooking extravaganza

sek

game day
we play catch in the yard

jr

we forget
about the game
bonding time

ka

Monopoly
we'll make our own rules

cd

no need for rules
all is fair
in Monopoly

ec

board games
Daddy always let me win

km

we play on the porch
petals fall
like rain

hz

following the flower girl
to my happily-ever-after
