A Father's Journey
the child learns
the cat purrs
running quickly
raising the unlocked window
underneath the moonlight
the halls and floorboards
•
unseen faces
a glow of sunrise
each wave beating
the old captain
a flicker of hope
all-encompassing sand
•
stuffing my mouth
the stars ignite
anger burns forth
on the contested property
blades drawn
young mother
•
storm clouds gathering
water droplets pool
lost in the watery grave
back home
Dad working
worms eat
•
brightly scattering
they run
a father's mind
but he never forgets
old truck stutters
losing control
•
muttering thunder
the ground shaking
the wide-eyed guppy
the youngest son
he drops
blossoms— • • •
