Freedom Path muddy tracks a snack for two raindrops fall the calming sound the moon begins to shine off the mirror • they begin to see memories of snowflakes snow bank snow plows spring wrapped for winter, the cardinal • snow glistens home from school bruises spatter on the wooden window pane the sun beats in . . . flowers outside • in the bathtub the child refuses sail boat cannot be contained the stranded pirate waves for days • in the open seas skies turn dark hoisting the Jolly Roger full moon overhead Captain Sparrow one lone pirate • hot summer sun rancid odor vultures the spoils blossoms we see them • • •
