Love Moments

little purple
in the fields of gray—
spring rain

the young girl plucks
the first trace of lavender

the trouble maker
watches keenly
and smiles

the hawk above
spots his prey

gazing at the moon
fireflies . . .
flashing

only 4 more hours
until we're home

•

long car ride
sibling rivalry
silence

broken by
memories of times past

a small intermission
our stomachs drop
rolling hills

pothole . . .
into the corn field

the brush
catches fire
the driver, unconscious

a bystander
rushes into the flames

•

morning moon
so many promises
to keep

his ring still shines
as she waits

on the subway bench
spray painted promises
and chewing gum

the aging father
finds his initials

he places roses
on her grave
. . . and time continues

Until the last raindrop
has fallen

•

she sees
her reflection
in the window

cold as ice
no emotions

not speaking
the woman
turns her shoulder

her heart empty
snow falls

building in the windowsill
memories of her past—
tears

spring rain drops
denting the streams surface

•

off the dirt road
a small car
dents the river

daisies
in the nearby meadow

field of flowers
a bee
finds its lunch

moonlit picnic
she leans in for the kiss

young couple
the deer gather
watching

yellow eyes watch
deer for dinner

•

large eyes
atop a tree
an owl’s hoot

the shock gobble answers
the barred owl

wind carries the call
down the valley
an anxious hunter

his fist snaps a twig
amateur

a birdwatcher
stops
to look at some flowers

a sense of peace
walks to the light
