TIME IS NOT THE ENEMY

Time is NOT the Enemy

Singing in the shower
even the dog
covers his ears . . .

The mailman
makes a quick delivery

Up to the front door
No body answers,
again

Flowers blossom
signs of spring

the warm sun
sets
the moon overhead

only enough light
to see my hand

reaching out
her hand meets mine
interlocking

holding on tight
we take a leap of faith

into the pool
The Carribean Resport
is popular

drinks in hand
time seems everlasting

red cup
and breaking bread
a prayer to himself

communion
in an old underground church

in the light of the moon
teenage shadows run
from sirens

innocent eyes
and tear-smeared makeup

flickering streetlamp
illuminates
the car’s exhaust

fills her lungs
shallow breath

the flowers
slowly dying
heart break

sugar plums
fall to the ground

landing in a
pit writhing
hissssss

sounds of fear
ring in my mind

deep in the pines . . .
the sound of
cracking wood

military men
fight through the forrest

light snow
dusting the ground
a deer between the trees

the bright moon
follows the soldiers

eager ears listen
praying loved ones names
are not heard

from courtroom pews
the child fusses loudly

hushing everyone
the judge
coughs

dress clothes and
tear soaked kleenex

alone at last
the bride and groom
kiss under a full moon

closing the curtain
I order room service for one

Vegas vacation:
trying to hook myself
“the One”

driving down the road
radio blaring

city lights passing by
I see a hooker
with a lazy eye

nod of the head
is all that was needed

the rose falls to
the ground
following the gunshots

cops approach
people scatter into the night
